How I Began Dancing

I began my exploration of dance when I was just four years old. Like most people my mother enrolled me in classes, but the difference is I was not the rambunctious and outgoing child you hear of being put into dance class. As a child I was very quiet and introspective, I still am in many ways. Dancing began as an extracurricular activity but turned into a way of life, feeling, and expression. Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like without dance. My life without art period, would be make life even more of a struggle than it inevitably is. While I am in transition from to student to professional I am learning so much about myself and the way the "real" world works.

Throughout my journey as a student I have attended many summer intensives, and been able to travel many places. Dance has truly taken me across the world; from California, USA🇺🇸 to Taipei, Taiwan 🇹🇼. Sometimes dance gets a bad reputations for not being a high paid career choice, but I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Along with taking me from place to place I have also had the pleasure of connecting with several amazing people. In that way pieces of my heart are spread out all over the world. Part of life's greatest experiences is meeting new people and being able to change yours and others perspectives.
Dance has helped me to enhance my already innate capabilities and tendencies. I am kind, compassionate, detail-oriented, introspective, yet strong and expressive. I have found discipline and awareness for my mind, body and soul helping me now more understand my capacities as a human being and how I am possibly viewed in the world (this is always changing as I change). Although I may not have learned all these things directly through dance. Dance was always there and will always be there to me as a processing mechanism, along the way. DANCE IS LIFEEEE!
